1873-1900(Early development) Founded in Sweden in 1873, Atlas initially focused on the production of railway equipment, including trains and locomotives. With the growth of the railway industry, the company expanded rapidly and in the early 1900s began to move into the emerging fields of compressors and wind tools.

In the early 1900s, Atlas began to specialise in compressors and mining equipment and gradually became an important supplier to the European market. The company further expanded its product line and began producing compressor equipment for the industrial and construction sectors. The name was officially changed to Atlas Copco in 1956.

Atlas Copco began to internationalise actively in the 1950s, establishing subsidiaries in Europe and North America and gradually moving into South America and Asia. in the 1960s, the company innovated with the introduction of air compression equipment suitable for high-efficiency mining and drilling, providing completely new solutions for the mining and oil and gas industry.

In the 1980s, Atlas Copco acquired a number of specialised equipment companies to further diversify its product line, including compressors, industrial tools, vacuum pumps, etc. In the 1990s, Atlas Copco accelerated its technological innovations, developed energy-saving air compressors and ventured into intelligent control systems.
